As one of the leading providers of insurance for automobile owners, Autosure Insurance have provided Kiwis with open and transparent insurance coverage for over 30 years. They are 100% Kiwi-owned and operated, and over the years have built a strong team with specialised expertise that’s unmatched by anyone in the industry. Thus, you can always count on Autosure motor vehicle insurance for all your driving needs, knowing that you’re always adequately protected.
Autosure NZ has over three decades of experience with claims. Their expertise enables them to provide consumer protection, and F&I training and consultancy to over 700 automobile dealers throughout the country. They are committed to treating their customers with dignity and respect; a strong tradition they’ve continued since their inception in 1986.
Autosure NZ takes pride in their easy-to-understand wording, allowing them to get their message across to a wider audience. And because Autosure policies are underwritten by Vero Insurance NZ, they provide no-fuss solutions with no stand-down periods when it comes to providing comprehensive car insurance. You can choose from three different levels of protection, depending on your needs and budget.
A mechanical breakdown is the last thing you want to experience upon purchasing a new automobile, so Autosure has taken steps to help Kiwis with this problem. Their Mechanical Breakdown Insurance can cover the costs of repairing mechanical or electrical parts (unless excluded in their policy guidelines). It’s a good policy to invest in when you’re considering buying a new car.
This is Autosure NZ’s comprehensive policy designed for drivers who use their vehicles for both private driving and business-related purposes. It covers 4WDs, utilities, and vans. As such, Autosure Insurance always asks the purpose of the vehicle prior to signing up for the policy, in order to ensure that no compatibility issues arise.
This is Autosure’s third party only policy, covering you only for damage you inflict on somebody else’s car or property. It provides legal liability for up to $20 million, however, it doesn’t cover liability for when you use a vehicle that isn’t yours, or on a trailer or caravan being towed by your own car. It does provide benefits such as transport cover, as well as damage by uninsured drivers.
This is similar to their TPPD offer, but with the added bonus of covering you for fire damage or theft/attempted theft. In the event that your car is lost or stolen, Autosure NZ will pay you the market value of your vehicle, or the amount insured in your policy (depending on which costs less).
Autosure Guaranteed Asset Protection Insurance or GAP is offered to new and existing clients to protect them against significant losses in case that their vehicle is declared a total loss. GAP can shoulder a portion of your outstanding balance if it so happens that the total loss settlement amount by your other car insurer is less than the amount you owe to your financier for your auto loan.
Maximum loan amount is $100,000 with a loan term of 60 months.
Autosure claims are made by calling them on 0800 227 787. You can also download an accident claim form to complete and submit online. If your car is stolen, you need to notify the police first before calling.
For any questions or concerns you may have regarding the company or your policy, you can either call them at 0800 267 873 or fill up an online form on their website. Autosure Insurance often replies within the next 24 hours or the next business day at most, ensuring a fast response to your inquiry.
For continued coverage, you must take all reasonable precautions to protect your vehicle. For example:
Move the vehicle away from rising flood water.
Secure your keys, especially when leaving your car unattended.
Continue maintenance on your car (e.g. tyre replacements, brake replacements, damaged lights) and keep it in road-worthy condition.
Follow all the terms and conditions stated in your policy.
Provide honest and accurate information in the event you need to lodge an Autosure claim.
It’s possible - if your policy was cancelled shortly after commencement, you may contact 0800 267 873 to see if you’re eligible for one.
Autosure’s brand falls under DPL Insurance Limited; a member of the Financial Services Federation. Their Mechanical Breakdown, Payment Protection, and Guaranteed Asset Protection are underwritten by DPL while their Car Insurance policies are underwritten by Vero Insurance in NZ.

Filomena had amazing customer service! She was very polite and respectful. She also was great at listening to my needs and offering solutions with options that had great savings. I would give her 10 stars if that was an option. If I decide to go ahead I would choose to go have her help me again. I have not had the best experience in the past with customer service reps so I would like to thank her for making this experience a good one. Kind Regards, Selena
Very clear and concise information. Great price comparison for saving money on our monthly bills! Thanks Issac and Glimp! I can't wait to pass these savings on to my hard working family Adding onto my review as I think this is totally unacceptable to have people call you about switching companies and you agree to change and go through the process with Glimp and then get phone calls from supposed companies BEFORE you even get the email offer from supposed companies.
The customer service was very good. Very pleasant and friendly approach. Thanks again for your help. Saving of 280$ for the same quality and performance. Will use this agency to get another deal after 12 months.
My discussion with Tyron Kumar went very well. He was very patient and polite with my lack of knowledge of GBs etc. On the basis of our conversation I felt confident enough to change to 2 degrees immediately. I didn't give five stars because the sound was poor. It seemed as if there was a constant noise in the background and Tyron's voice had a slight echo as well.
