They seem to send HUGE bills during the winter. I called them about this and was told it is due to winter and using heaters but we dont use heaters and we dont use any other appliances but the washing machine fridge and chargers. LOL Dont even use tvs. We se our phones. 2 of us live here. They are locking us in to a 2 year contracts so they can raid us of our MONEY!!!!!!! For the amount they charge us each month i say its better off breaching the contract and paying the 1000$ fee!!!

Would not recommend using Trustpower to anyone. Had nothing but problems with them since signing up. Don't be enticed by the joining reward they offer as it is not worth it and prices are very expensive over the long run. When I ended my contract with them they refused to credit me for a full gas bottle that was collected from my property as they stated that it was empty (which it wasn't)

After dealing with trustpower I was so stressed out I couldn't work and I nearly got into a fight with someone on the bus. Here is the story - We 'joined' trustpower for no other reason than we felt sorry for the salesman who was walking around the neighborhood getting treated like a smelly dog. The salesman actually came into our house looked at our computer and router and told me that we would have no issues connecting to the trustpower network. About 3 days ago our internet stop working. We had been switched over from our previous provider. I spent the evening trying to configure the modem to the trustpower settings to get back on the internet. Trustpower requires VLAN tagging. My modem does not support VLAN tagging (VLAN tagging was not required with my previous provider). I phoned technical support and the technician (absolutely useless - 'I've only been trained to work with certain models of router') told me after 50 minutes (most of the time on hold by the way) to phone to TPlink to find a solution. I spent another 30-40 minutes the next day using the webchat to be told 'can you provide us with a data hotspot with your phone and a laptop so that we can log into your computer remotely?' No I don't have a laptop and I don't have a phone that provides a hotspot and I don't want to let you into my computer. So they promised to call me at 5:30pm when I was at home. But the bus was running late that night and I couldn't get home in time. So my wife answered the phone ready to obtain the necessary technical advice needed to connect us to the internet. Sarah - the technician refused to talk to her because she was not 'a party to the agreement'. Even though the day before I sent a message asking trustpower to add her to the account. That was the last straw - even my wife now acknowledged that we were dealing with some morons. These idiots have caused my wife and me so much stress in the past week. No wonder there is a mental health crisis in this country.

I'm only writing this as I believe I have been scammed by Trustpower. This company singed me up without my will and sent me a huge bill after 3 months. I did not noticed as my wife was paying the bills and didnt noticed the decrease in costs. Trustpower is not trustworthy and does not belong in NZ. Dont waste your time or go near them !

honestly, tom your customer service representative should be employee of the month. his customer service, his promise to deliver service at a certain time and his easy-going mannerisms made a huge difference when providing advice on how to fix the modem problem. outstanding service. thomas cribb

If you are a low user and live in Tauranga you would be rather foolish not to be with Trustpower - definitely cheapest (for low users only). Annual.rebate cheque just makes it so much cheaper than any other believe you me I have done my homework

Horrible network, slow all the time. Customer service took 2 hours. Definitely switching to another network. Don’t use trust power

After 1 year with this company I have switched over this week to another. Very complicated initial questions etc, big delay in the changeover at the time, put me on th wrong plan and didn't change it when I asked .Tried to offer me a deal when they found out I was leaving but too late. I have signed up with Contact this week and they won't need to do much to be better than Trustpower.

Trustpower is the worst service that I have ever used. No customer support at all. Whenever I have issues, need to wait hours and hardly get hold of anyone.

Trustpower fined $390K over misleading broadband offer

Same as all the negative comments on here .Service-there is none existent, how are these clowns allowed to operate? Ask a question AND maybe they get back to you? Guess is just a New Zealand thing.

They should change the name to Untrustedpower! When I switched to another power provider, Trustpower called me and said I'm under the 24 months contract. I need to pay $195 to change the provider. So I cancelled the new sign up with a new power provider. Then I found the document, and I noticed that I was not under the contract.a (My 24 months contract finished in 2017!!) They lied to me to keep me. After I complained, they gave me conclusion of the investigation of the problem. However, they just said the old contract had not been removed. So the salesperson thought I'm under the contract. No way! I am pretty sure the sales lady told me a lie to get her incentive! Of course, I cancelled the Trustpower contract immediately!!

Zero communication, you have to send multiple emails before getting a response, and then was put on hold for 35mins, only to be put through to the wrong department. Staff have no idea what they are doing. Application got lost. The rates are exteremly high, and you dont get your appliance for 8 weeks. Definitely not worth the hassel.

If there was a negative star rating, I would have loved to go with that. One of the biggest mistakes of my life was to sign up with TrustPower as my power and internet provider. It's not the price, it's their service and how much they value the customers. I'd rather have no power or internet than to be signed up with them. Over two years (unfortunately I was bound by contract) there have been several incidents where after multiple calls/chat sessions/email, I had to actually reach the directors to get my issues looked into. I won't go into the details but if you're reading this, don't sign up with these guys.

Jumped on a 2 year contract paying $70 a fortnight then 2 months into the contract these pricks send me a bill of $700 like bro be straight up with your customers instead of giving us accuracy and estimates you rip of pricks. I do not recommend this power company as they will pull the rug underneath you feet in a blink of an eye..

Got hooked into them by their TV ad and the fact I can have electricity and phone/internet all in one bill. I was only partially attracted to them by the new appliance which I didn't overly need. But the switch over was horrendous and now I am stuck in a 2 year deal or I have to pay $900 back for my appliance. They simply did not deliver on what the smooth talking salesman stated. Now I have to wait till the 2 years is up so I can leave them.

I’ve been with Trustpower for a while now and their customer service is great, they support NZ I’m so many ways that other power companies don’t. Their prices can sometimes be expensive but they make up for it with their call centre and their wait times are not as horrible as people say. The longest I have had to wait it maybe 15 minutes but they have a call back system where you can keep your spot in line and then they call you back so no one has to wait on the phone. I have had to wait on the phone with Genesis for 45 mins just to be hung up on when they answered and no one called me back. Switching to them was easy they told me what was involved for power and Fibre. Their bills are easy to read and if people find them hard then lol they have heaps of great deals but people don’t read through the T

Very disappointed with the internet connection.I have called few times to solve with the internet dismissed and very slow but couldn’t solve.Do not recommend this company

Prices charged are not what was quoted or discussed at the door by salesman. Customer service wait times are shocking and far to long. Once you get through call centre arent helpful. Please listen to tapes and see how unhelpful all communication has been. Called in with a reading to see where my power bill is at and most companies tell you over the phone yet your company wont and say I have to wait 4 hours. Wouldnt consider coming back to you ever again due to all the above when so many companies treat people better

Have been with them since 1990's. Never had reason to change.

They allowed my husband to cancel our joint bill and put only his name on a new one. They now refuse to give me ANY information including what type of meter we have attached to the house that my husband and I own.
Any comments?
It has cut our powerbill in half and its affordable
Any comments?
The power went up but household went from 4 to 2 adults

Its great that they can combine our power and gas and appear to give us a good discount, however i don't think that they are as 'advanced' as some other companies as they don't have an app, cannot show daily/weekly power usage. Would love if they were a bit more customer friendly in terms of our needs
Any comments?
Trustpower bought our locally owned power provider last year, so we really never switched to them in a sense. However when I have had to deal with them in issues regarding power and Internet they have been rude and unhelpful or unwilling to take no for an answer

They also supply my internet connection. A couple of minor issues with internet supply have been overcome and customer service great.

Costs doubled switching from Contact to Trustpower but am unfortunately in a lock in contract! :(

good reward system too
Any comments?
not the cheapest
Any comments?
Would be better if they could provide daily breakdowns as the bills I receive don't seem to have that on them
Any comments?
They still discounted my 15% off my first invoice, even though I was a day (or two?) late. Also gave me the 15% discount when my invoice went missing in the mail, and I didn't realize until about a week-10 days later.
Any comments?
Trust power is a little on the expensive side but definitely reliable and willing to work out payment plans as long as you keep them in the loop.
Any comments?
the 2 year contract with internet feels a bit tight though

I find them expensive but am stuck in a 2 year contract. I wasn't happy when they charged me $78.00 for me to switch my power to a new address. They are very strict on your bill being paid within 3 weeks of receiving it, you can't go over that time frame without calling them to sort a payment plan and they charge you extra fees as well as revoking your prompt payment discount. Over all not a great provider.

We got stuck in a 2 year contract, as we liked the internet deal

Great service, i have power phone and internet with them. No problems, customer service is excellent, and the cheque before Christmas is a bonus!

Never had a problem with Trustpower. Great customer service for Power.

Good priced power. No complaints

Was a shame that they couldn't put the broadband disconnect on hold as we were moving and didn't have a new address to transfer to yet. It would have been nice instead of getting the fee that we could have had the option of transferring to enable us a month or two of fidnjng a house to transfer our connection to. Especially when the disconnect fee was over $500!

My power bills have been higher since I change over. I also have the internet with them and it's real slow and we also have to re start our wifi.

Great company locally based. Competitive prices when I signed up and locked in the rate with a sign up bonus. Have been great thus far!

I have been really impressed with their service and prices.

Staff are friendly but not very helpful but they try their best. Company seems disorganised and super expensive. Never again.

I like that they are NZ based and answer their calls quickly. Dislike the price of our power
