Not everyone lives in places serviceable by existing internet infrastructure, so Gravity NZ designed their services specifically for those living in these rural areas. They don’t offer fibre plans, VDSL plans, ADSL plans, or even internet plans that run via 3G/4G networks.
Gravity NZ only offers satellite plans. This means that if you’ve been turned away by every other provider, Gravity internet will work for you. As long as you can see the sky from your house, you can be serviced by satellite internet. It won’t be ultra-fast, but depending on which plan you get, you’ll be able to browse online for banking, emails, social media and even streaming services like Youtube or Netflix.
If you compare Gravity internet using our comparison tool, you’ll see that they have a broadband plan to suit almost everyone.
Gravity specialises in the places missed by most other broadband providers. If you live rurally, on a farm, some remote corner of the country or just somewhere ignored by existing infrastructure, Gravity NZ has broadband plans available for you.
A few other providers have options available for a satellite connection, but only Gravity focuses on satellite connections. This way, you can trust that their service is second to none.
If you’ve been stuck for years with dial-up or other shoddy internet connections, Gravity NZ is here for you. They will bring you closer to the connected world that we all live in with a satellite connection.
You’ll be in control of how much of that connection you want to use. It’s nice to be off the grid, but now that the world is becoming so reliant on the internet, it can also be a hassle. With a satellite connection like what Gravity internet offers, all you need is a clear line of sight up into the sky and your whole household can be connected.
Gravity NZ realised that those living in remote parts of New Zealand have been somewhat neglected by other internet providers. So they’ve created a set of satellite broadband plans specifically for those who live ‘off-the-grid’. This way, you can finally be in control of your internet access, something which is becoming more and more important now that the world is living in the internet age.
The base version of Gravity internet plans come naked, meaning you won’t need to pay for a landline unless you decide to add it into your plan. People are using their landlines less and less now that mobile infrastructure has become so secure. So if you don’t need a landline, Gravity won’t force it into your plan.
The option to add a landline into your plan is always there with Gravity internet. They know that it isn’t a necessity for a lot of people anymore, so they offer landlines as an optional extra. It comes for an extra $29 per month and with a one-off installation fee of $59.
If you want an internet connection just so you can do the basics - like emails and banking - then it’s best to opt for one of the capped data plans that Gravity NZ offers. However, if you are in a household with people who have different internet needs, or if you just want to watch videos and movies on platforms like Youtube or Netflix, then it’s safest to opt for the unlimited plan. We all know it can be a hassle if you run out of your data before the end of the month!
Since there is a fair bit of setup involved with getting Gravity internet plans, they have a different approach to no-contract broadband plans. They offer open contract plans, but with a higher install fee of $1499. On a 24-month contract, the install fees will only be $799 or $999.
On a contract, Gravity internet can cost as little as $99 per month with the $999 installation fee. The price goes up from there depending on which plan you decide to go with.
The satellite connections that Gravity offer have speeds of 14Mbps download and 2Mbps upload.
