Tower Travel Insurance
Tower travel insurance can be a great and underrated option for travel insurance that is often overlooked by those searching for the perfect deal. Tower travel insurance offers two primary types of cover- Cover4Travel and Provider travel. These two options cover just about any NZ traveller, from the spontaneous globetrotter looking for the latest online deals for flights leaving tomorrow, to the meticulous planner preparing for their big around-the-world trip.
Why get travel insurance with Tower?
New Zealand’s travel insurance companies can sometimes seem difficult to navigate; however Tower makes it easy to find travel insurance through its two broad policies of Cover4travel and Provider travel cover. Tower’s website allows you to enter your trips specific details and easily obtain a quote; finally, if you are travelling with your children, Tower will provide free travel insurance for them if they are still under 18 years of age.
Is it worth it to get travel insurance?
It is always worth it to get travel insurance! This is because, whilst travel insurance can seem like a bit of a bore, the risks of not having travel insurance are simply too great to ignore; medical emergencies such as sudden injury or illness can occur just as easily overseas as they can at home; missed flights and lost luggage are plagues that haunt every airport and theft can be a larger issue in overseas countries than it is in New Zealand, with tourists and travellers being key targets. Travel Insurance covers all of this, offering you ample protection from the unexpected.
What can I claim?
Tower allows you to claim up to $10,000 for loss of personal baggage and up to $20,000 for loss of your families baggage, up to $2,000 for loss of travel documents, $500 for emergency purchases if you go without your luggage for 12 hours or more, up to $50,000 for accidental death or total permanent disablement, up to $2,000,000 for liability protection, up tp $2,500 for travel delays or missed connections, up to $10,000 if you involved in a strike or hijack, up to $2,000 for your rental car excess, up to $1,500 for dental costs and up to $100,000 if you are involved in a terrorist attack.
Tower travel Insurance policies
Tower travel insurance offers one of the simplest single trip travel insurance policies available in New Zealand. Their Cover4Travel insurance starts from just $16, and works extremely well for travellers who are looking for excellent value cover that covers the most important aspects of travel insurance such as loss, theft, medical expenses and travel delay. Tower makes it easy to purchase travel insurance by allowing you to buy online and sort your travel insurance out in less than five minutes
Tower travel insurance allows you to select a Frequent Traveller option as part of it’s Provider Travel Insurance policy; this Frequent Traveller option renews once a year and is perfect for the budding global traveller who wishes to take several overseas trips a year. One thing to remember is that their Frequent Traveller option does not cover pre-existing medical conditions that exist at the start of the agreement unless they have specifically agreed to provide cover. Additionally, Tower’s Cover4travel policy can be taken out multiple times a year and starts from just $16.
Rock climbing, mountaineering, hang-gliding, parachuting, skydiving, microlite flying, paragliding or parasailing, bungy jumping, pot-holing, hunting, competing and racing, rodeo activities, white water activities and underwater activities are excluded from Towers Cover4travel insurance policy. Additionally, Towers Provider travel insurance policy excludes ‘extreme versions’ of any spot as well as any professional sporting activity.
Tower Travel Insurance FAQs
Cover4Travel insurance is a special policy only offered by Tower travel insurance; it is an ideal policy if you need travel insurance quickly for those last minute trip bookings, as you can receive a quote easily online and buy it all within the space of five minutes! The Cover4Travel policy represents excellent value, with cover starting from just $16 and protecting you from the big stuff like loss, theft, medical expenses and travel delays.
Provider travel insurance is Tower’s other primary travel insurance policy. Provider travel insurance is a fantastic option for those aged 65 and older who need cover for pre-existing medical conditions and who plan to be away for more than 120 days. Provider travel insurance has higher cover limits, so is perfect for those travelling with high value items such as cameras or expensive jewellery; if you’re planning on jetting away on that post retirement around-the-world trip, then don’t hesitate to consider Tower’s Provider travel insurance!
Yes! Tower travel Insurance covers dependent children living with you who are under the age of eighteen and travelling with you for free. Your children will be covered under your policy type, and you can choose to withdraw either an individual plan or a family plan; an individual plan works well if it is just you travelling with your children, whereas a family plan can cover you and your spouse and save you both some money. One thing to remember is that your children must have NZ residency.
Towers various travel insurance policies cover a range of activities. Their travel policies cover activities like cycling, surfing, paddle boarding, and running, but don’t cover more specialist adventurous activities like rock climbing, mountaineering, white water activities and ‘extreme’ versions of any sport. If you wish to add a specific activity to your insurance cover, it is best to call Tower and discuss this with them.
