The New Zealand launch for Samsung Galaxy S21 Series is set on 14 January 2021 at 10 AM EST (Friday, 5 AM NZDT) during this year’s CES event. “Unpacked 2021: Welcome to the Everyday Epic.” The launch will feature the new Galaxy S21 lineup, innovative mobile phones, as well as their flagship accessories including earbuds and smart trackers.

This is earlier than their previous launch events, which usually happens during late February. While they’ve not revealed why, fans, tech enthusiasts, and even normal Kiwis get an earlier peek of the Korean tech giant’s smart products. Unlike their previous releases, this is a completely virtual event.

The company has been cooking the hottest specs and features and hinting them on social media. We won’t keep you waiting any longer — here’s what you need to know and what you can expect to see for the Samsung Galaxy S21 Series launch.

Three phones in the new Samsung Galaxy S21 lineup

As expected from Samsung, the Galaxy S21 will house the latest and most advanced tech in the market. They’ve not revealed the names of the smartphones, but it’s rumoured to follow the naming of the S20 lineup: Samsung Galaxy S21, S21 Plus, and S21 Ultra.

Newest chips paired with the best software

The specs may differ per variant, but they’re all expected to house Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 or the Exynos 2100. This is paired with a 120Hz refresh rate on a full or quad-HD display. One UI 3.1 on top of Android 11 is set to debut with the new lineup.

New colours and new designs

Samsung Galaxy S21 series will come with new fun colours such as Phantom Violet and Phantom Pink. Not after funky colours? You can take advantage of Phantom Gray and Phantom White! According to the leaks, the rear camera cutout may be different from their previous releases. The front camera cutout is also one of the tiniest ever seen in the smartphone market.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra with a twist

Normally, S Pens are reserved for the tech company’s Note series. However, they may break this tradition this year. Rumours claim that the Ultra phone may come with a designated S Pen. While the megapixel count didn’t increase from last year’s, Samsung has since made several upgrades in their 108MP sensor.

Better connectivity with Wi-Fi 6E

Of course, the new phones come with 5G — it’s 2021 after all! Great news is, it also comes with Wi-Fi 6E! This means the phones can detect up to 6GHz signals. While this connection is only available in certain areas, it futureproofs them to be capable of receiving these signals.

Bluetooth 5.1 for your wireless accessories

Samsung is pushing towards the wireless technology, so it’s no surprise that their new phones are equipped with Bluetooth 5.1. This reduces connection drops and lags, as well as improves overall connectivity between your mobile phone and wireless devices.

Possibly cheaper Samsung flagship phones

The specs and features of Samsung Galaxy S21 lineup have been around the internet for quite some time. However, their prices remain a mystery. Tech insiders reveal they may cost lower than the debut prices of the Galaxy S20 lineup. Depending on the phone and region, it can cost anywhere from USD850-USD1,299.

For the controversial part, charger on the box!

Many tech enthusiasts are waiting to see whether the Samsung Galaxy S21 lineup will come with a charger on the box! This is a big controversy after the new Apple’s iPhone 12 series didn’t come with a charger. Many are expecting the Korean tech giant to follow this move, but it’s mostly unclear for the most part.

New Samsung accessories alongside new phones

Samsung’s launch event won’t only release their flagship phones, but their new wireless accessories too! According to leaks, they’re set to launch an entry to the premium true wireless earbuds market. Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro is rumoured to come equipped with IPX7 for water and dust resistance. The device’s sound signature is set by AKG.

Samsung SmartTag Trackers may debut

Samsung SmartTag Trackers are designed to keep tabs on your belongings like keys, earbuds, or wallet. Simply clip them to your stuff and locate them on your phone via Bluetooth. They’re rumoured price is NZD25.72, but it’s still subject to change.

Launch of Samsung’s affordable foldable phones

Nothing is still set in stone, but Samsung may finally release an affordable foldable phone! It’s believed to launch alongside the new Galaxy S21 series. If they won’t release the phone this January, they may hint the release of these phones as their ‘One More Thing.’ They may release Fold 3 or Z Fold 3 — or it can be a new rollable phone! It’s surely a phone to watch out for!
