Before glimp.co.nz started there were two guys, Michael & Denis, who decided to change their lives. Michael with a background in facilities management and Denis with a background in auditing and with only 6 months left in becoming a CA. They both decided to quit their jobs around June 2015 and attended an 18 week programming course. After the course, glimp has been born.
Michael had this idea ever since he came to New Zealand 5 years ago. A price comparison website for utilities. Idea so simple that it is crazy it hasn’t been done properly before. So we decided to tackle the problem and in September 2015 we set up a 2 man sweat shop and started working away. That’s how glimp originated.
We came up with this name after two days of brainstorming names that could relate to what we are trying to do. We were looking for names that resemble compare, canvas, having a look and so on. Eventually, we came across the word “glimpse”, removed last two letters, and ended up with “glimp”. Essentially, glimp is glimpse in Dutch and also means “a ray of sunlight”, which is what we are! :)
glimp aims to become best New Zealand’s comparison website for utilities. We are on the mission of saving Kiwi’s time and money. Currently, we have launched broadband plan comparison as our first product. Within one minute you can find out what broadband plan suits your needs.
It is very easy. All you have to do is answer few questions, such as your address, if you want a landline or not, what kind of user you are and whether you want a contract. Asking for your address is important to us, as it lets us determine what technology is available at your address, whether it is ADSL, VDSL or Fibre. Then, based on what you answered in other questions, we will recommend the plan that is suitable for you and your household. Thank you for reading our short story. You can go here to compare majority of broadband plans and select the one that suits your needs.
