Where to Compare Broadband and Mobile Plans in New Zealand

Dec 15, 2025

Shopping for broadband or a mobile plan in New Zealand means wading through dozens of providers. Spark, Vodafone, 2degrees, Skinny, One NZ, plus a bunch of smaller outfits. Each has their own pricing structure, contract terms, and fine print.

Comparison sites exist to cut through this. You punch in your address, set a few filters, and get a list of what's actually available to you. Some sites do this better than others. Here's where to look.

1. Glimp

Website: glimp.co.nz

Glimp covers broadband, mobile, power, gas, and insurance. If you're the type who wants to sort out multiple bills in one sitting, this is where to start.

The interface is straightforward. You can filter by connection type, speed, price, and provider. Glimp also runs exclusive deals from time to time, so it's worth checking even if you've compared elsewhere.

Most major providers are listed. You can usually switch directly through the site without needing to call anyone.

2. CompareBear

Website: comparebear.co.nz

CompareBear keeps things simple. No clutter, no upsells. You get side-by-side pricing with all the fees included upfront.

The site is particularly good if you already know roughly what you want and just need to see who offers it cheapest. Strong on budget mobile and broadband options.

3. Moneyhub

Website: moneyhub.co.nz

Moneyhub takes a different approach. Rather than a pure comparison tool, they publish detailed reviews and guides explaining each provider's pros and cons.

If you want to understand why one plan might suit you better than another (not just which is cheaper), Moneyhub's editorial content is useful. They also cover financial products like credit cards and KiwiSaver, so the site skews toward money-focused readers.

4. Broadband Compare

Website: broadbandcompare.co.nz

Does what it says on the tin. Broadband Compare focuses on internet plans only. Fibre, VDSL, wireless broadband.

The address checker tells you what's available at your place, which is handy since not everywhere has fibre yet. Been around for years and maintains decent provider coverage.

5. Broadband.co.nz

Website: broadband.co.nz

A directory-style site that lists plans organised by provider. Less of a comparison tool and more of a reference. Useful if you already have a provider in mind and want to see their full plan lineup.

6. Mobile Plan

Website: mobileplan.co.nz

Mobile-only comparison. Filters for prepaid, postpaid, and data-only plans. Covers the main networks plus MVNOs like Skinny, Warehouse Mobile, and Kogan.

If you're just after a phone plan and don't need broadband, this is a focused option.

A Few Things Worth Knowing

Check your address first. Fibre isn't everywhere. Rural areas often get wireless or satellite only. Any decent comparison site will tell you what's actually available at your place before showing you plans.

Watch for hidden costs. Some plans advertise a low monthly price but charge setup fees, modem rental, or early termination penalties. Look at the total cost over 12 months, not just the headline number.

"Unlimited" has limits. Most unlimited broadband plans have fair use policies. Heavy usage during peak hours can mean throttled speeds. Read the terms.

Bundling can save money. Some providers discount your bill if you take broadband and mobile together. Glimp and CompareBear both show bundle deals.

Bottom Line

Start with Glimp if you want a full picture across broadband, mobile, and power. Use CompareBear if you just want quick pricing. The other sites listed above are worth a look if you want a second opinion or prefer a different format.

Ten minutes comparing plans can knock a fair bit off your annual bills. Worth the effort.

Jordan was patient, pleasant and took the time to answer all of my questions. She made sure that I understood all the steps and was clear and concise in her replies. Jordan first verified that I was the person paying the bills and ascertained that my husband had already expressed a change to Pulse but wanted to speak with me first. As we are both older, we appreciate that Jordan had taken the time to ensure that we understood the importance of a smart meter as there are two dwellings on this meter.

Very clear and concise information. Great price comparison for saving money on our monthly bills! Thanks Issac and Glimp! I can't wait to pass these savings on to my hard working family Adding onto my review as I think this is totally unacceptable to have people call you about switching companies and you agree to change and go through the process with Glimp and then get phone calls from supposed companies BEFORE you even get the email offer from supposed companies.

Filomena had amazing customer service! She was very polite and respectful. She also was great at listening to my needs and offering solutions with options that had great savings. I would give her 10 stars if that was an option. If I decide to go ahead I would choose to go have her help me again. I have not had the best experience in the past with customer service reps so I would like to thank her for making this experience a good one. Kind Regards, Selena
